Every bacterial or viral infection, that our body has experienced in our lifetime or is currently challenged with, leaves its mark on the immune system. Analyzing a patient’s immune response, accurately reproduced using a blood sample and Lophius' technologies, provides more reliable and more rapid insights into certain infections than conventional test formats. T cells have an amazing capacity to proliferate and to adopt functional roles aimed at clearing a host of an infectious agent. Different cell populations of the immune system show a specific and detectable reaction following in vitro stimulation with a pathogen-derived antigen. Lophius' core competency relies on mimicking a natural infection very closely in a diagnostic environment and analyzing specific biomarkers that unveil the immune status to a given pathogen (e.g. bacteria or viruses).
